Green University of Bangladesh holds 3rd convocation

Dhaka : The third convocation of Green University of Bangladesh was held on January 17 at the permanent campus of the university at Purbachal American City.

Nurul Islam Nahid, Minister for Education, Professor Abdul Mannan, Chairman, UGC, Mohammed Abdullah Al-Mamun, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT), Prof Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman, Convocation Speaker, economist and Chairman, PKSF, Prof Dr Md Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice Chancellor and Prof Dr Muhammad Fayyaz Khan, Pro VC of the university spoke on the occasion.

A total of 1,461 graduates received degrees in this convocation. Six students received Chancellor's Gold Medal and ten were awarded Vice-Chancellor's Gold Medal.

Nurul Islam Nahid said, the government continues to give higher education its top priority among others sectors in Bangladesh.

Keeping this in mind, the power of knowledge should be spread among the people who are less enlightened in our society. We have to work with honesty and prove ourselves through good work and ability, he said.

Mohammed Abdullah Al Mamun, Chairman, Board of Trustees, said, convocation is very important occasion for every student. He expected the graduates of Green University would soon enter their professional lives.

He mentioned, as there is a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Green University and US-Bangla Group, competent graduates are guaranteed to get job in ten sister concern institutions of US-Bangla, including US-Bangla Airlines.

Prof Dr Md Golam Samdani Fakir, Vice-Chancellor said, the graduates are to utilise their knowledge and skills for the improvement of the socio-economic condition of the country.

All the members of the Board of Trustees, Syndicate, Academic Council, guests, guardians and parents, ambassadors, along with faculty members and students were present at the convocation ceremony.
