US Bangla Aircraft Catches Fire on Arrival at Kathmandu Int’l Airport

Kathmandu: A Bombardier Dash – 8 Q400 aircraft of US Bangla Airline caught fire, after it careened off the runway during landing and crashed onto a football ground, near the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA). The flight BS 211 left Dhaka this afternoon at 12:30pm with 67 passengers and 4 crew on board and was scheduled to land at Kathmandu, TIA at 2:30pm.
As the last report came in, 37 passengers were pulled out and rushed to the hospitals while firefighters are trying to rescue other passengers and crew. So far 5 passengers reported killed.
All scheduled flights to and from Kathmandu airport have been halted while all incoming flights have been diverted to nearest destinations.
