Galaxy Flying Academy holds graduation ceremony for trainee pilots.

Dhaka : Galaxy Flying Academy held the graduation ceremony of its 34 trainee pilots at Uttara Club in the city on February 29.

Air Vice Marshal M Mofidur Rahman, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) attended the event as the Chief Guest while Mohammad Younus, Managing Director of Galaxy Flying Academy presided over the ceremony.

Speaking on the occasion, Air Vice Marshal M Mofidur Rahman urged the new graduates to lead the aviation sector of Bangladesh to a new era of growth and prestige. He also encouraged them to continue study on Flight Safety issues and Flying Risk Management in an effort to ensure safe flight operations.

Group Captain (retired) Shawkat ul Islam, former Chairman of CAAB, aviation expert Captain Shahab Uddin Ahmed, Bir Uttam and Mofizur Rahman, Managing Director, Novoair were also present on the occasion among other dignitaries.

Wing Commander (retired) ATM Nazrul Islam, Chief Executive of the Academy delivered the graduation speech.

Other speakers at the ceremony also highlighted the growing pilot shortage worldwide, stating Bangladesh can help mitigate the crisis by establishing standard pilot training schools such as Galaxy.

The Chief and Special guests handed over certificates and crests to 34 young graduate pilots.

Galaxy Flying Academy has been the country's largest pilot trainer since its inception in 2010. So far 324 student-pilots got enrolled in the academy and about 110 pilots graduated after completing their pilot training. The academy currently has 115 students.

Galaxy Flying Academy has five training aircraft of its own. Its Flying Training School is located at Shah Makhdum Airport in Rajshahi and has a ground school at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka.

Anyone aged at least 16 years and has passed higher secondary school education in Science with Physics and Mathematics can qualify to train as a pilot at the academy.

Mohammad Yonus, Managing Director of the academy further mentioned that the academy will soon add simulators and multi-engines in its training operations.

The ceremony was concluded with a grand dinner followed by a cultural performance by the academy students.
