Sylhet : Sylhet Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) leaders held a discussion with Benjamin Cutmore, Head of the Department of In-ternational Trade at the British High Commission at Hotel Roseview here on June 5.
The diplomat said Bangladesh and Britain have excellent trade relationship. Bangladesh exports large quantities of agriculture produce and ready-made-garments to the United Kingdom.
Cutmore urged the business community to take the relations of the two countries into new heights.
UK is a major partner of economic development. Britain will continue to be development partners of Bangladesh, he assured.
President of Sylhet Chamber, Khandker Shiper Ahmed thanked Benjamin Cutmore for the meeting Sylhet has large amount of natural resources and to ideal place for foreign investment, he said.
The current government has made infrastructure for investors to encourage investments by expatriate Bangladeshi entrepreneurs. Among the infrastructure development are Srihattya Economic Zone, HiTech Park and others, said Shiper Ahmed.
The Sylhet Chamber urged British entrepreneurs to invest in information technology, tourism, industries and education sectors.
The Chamber also raised the hassle experienced while exporting citrus fruits and betel leaf to Britain and sought the British High Commission's help to resolve the issue.
