Shahjalal Islami Bank Ltd. awards scholarships to students

Dhaka : Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited (SJIBL) awarded scholarships to the underprivileged yet brilliant students of the country at a scholarship award giving ceremony held at Officers Club, Dhaka on March 23.

Fazle Kabir, Governor of Bangladesh Bank, handed over the scholarship cheques among the students as chief guest.

500 students from different colleges and universities received the scholarship for their bright results. Among the students nominated for scholarship, there were 160 male students and 140 female students from SSC level, 120 male students and 80 female students from HSC level. The students will be given BDT4.19 crore as scholarship money on monthly basis.

Akkas Uddin Mollah, Chairman, Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited, presided over the ceremony while Md. Towhidur Rahman, Chairman, Shahjalal Islami Bank Foundation and M. Shahidul Islam, Managing Director of the bank, spoke on the occasion.

The directors Md. Sanaullah Shahid, Abdul Halim, Mohiuddin Ahmed, Mohammed Younus, Fakir Akhtaruzzaman, additional managing director Abdul Aziz, deputy managing directors M. Akhter Hossain, Mian Quamrul Hasan Chowdhury and Imtiaz U. Ahmed, head office executives and scholarship recipients were present in the ceremony, among others.
