Dhaka : Intiha Samanta, a law graduate and an amateur culinary artist from Dhaka division has become the winner of Meizan Malaysian Palm Olein Shera Rondhonshilpi 2019. Kamrun Nahar, a banker also from Dhaka division became the runner-up and Tahsin Islam Toma from Rangpur division won the prestigious Professor Siddiqua Kabir trophy for outstanding knowledge in nutrition. The grand finale and award ceremony of the countrywide popular culinary reality show was telecast on November 13 on ATN Bangla.
Inam Ahmed, General Manager and Faisal Mahmud, Senior Manager - Marketing of Bangladesh Edible Oil Ltd, marketing organisation of Meizan Fortified Palm Olein; Tasik Ahmed, Advisor Programme, ATN Bangla; Akhlaqur Rahman, Principal of National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute; Mohammed Rahman, Emirates Sales Manager Bangladesh, and Dr Farhad Kamal, Group CEO of The Bangladesh Monitor were present at the award giving ceremony.
The champion received BDT 300,000 and return couple tickets for Dubai, while the runner-up was awarded with BDT 100,000 and a ticket for Dubai among others, being sponsored by Emirates Airline.
This time 24 participants were selected from all over the country for the reality show. The participants had to demonstrate their culinary skills, nutrition and hygiene knowledge to reach the final through eleven elimination rounds. Four finalists Intiha Samanta, Afsana Rifat Sochi, Kamrun Nahar and Tahsin Islam Toma fought for the crown in the grand finale.
A jury panel comprising expert chefs and celebrity culinary artists carried out the responsibility of successfully judging the contest. Among the judges were former executive sous chef of Le Meridien Julean Sitol Botlero; Jaheda Begum, Head of F&B, National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute; and TV culinary show presenters Zebunnessa Begum and Tasnia Rahman Shrishtim.
Shera Rondhonshilpi 2019 was presented jointly by The Bangladesh Monitor and ATN Bangla. Meizan Fortified Palm Olein was the Title Sponsor while Omera LPG supported the event as a premium sponsor. National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute, Sharif Home Appliance, Emirates Airline and Shwapno super store joined as the partners.
The Bangladesh Monitor has been arranging the popular culinary event since 2005 and this year it was the 15th edition of the competition.
