Dhaka: Biman Bangladesh Airlines will formally sign an agreement on August 1 to procure three Dash-8 Q400NG produced by Canadian manufacturer Bombardier Inc.
Canada government’s Export Development Canada (UDC) will provide loan for purchase of three turboprop Q-Series aircrafts.
The G2G (government to government) purchase agreement will be signed with Canadian Commercial Cooperation (CCC). The ceremony will be attended by Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal.
Biman Bangladesh, General Manager (PR), Shakil Miraj said the purchase of Dash-8 will significantly increase the domestic connectivity. The 70-80 seats Dash-8 will improve the comfort of passengers in domestic routes.
A proposal to purchase Dash-8 was decided at a Cabinet Meeting in 2017, PR official said.
Dash-8, is world’s most advanced turboprop, Q400 aircraft redefine the category with their jet-like speed, is flying in 40 countries around the world.
Over 550 Q400 turboprops are in service with more than 60 operators. They have accumulated more than 10 million flight hours, and have a dispatch reliability of 99.5 per cent – one of the highest levels in the air transport industry.
