Dhaka: AirlineRatings.com has published its annual report naming the safest airlines in 2019. At the top of the list stands Australian carrier Qantas, holding the ranking from 2014 to 2017.
“Qantas was a clear winner given its industry leadership in safety innovation,” said Geoffrey Thomas, Editor-in-chief, AirlineRatings.com.
Before arranging a list of the top 20, the ratings site studied data from 405 airlines. Twelve different criteria had to be met successfully which include audits from governments, aviation’s governing bodies and lead associations, fleet age and crash and serious incident minimums.
The rest of the top 19 were not listed by ranking, rather alphabetically. They include Air New Zealand, Alaska Airlines, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Emirates, Hawaiian Airlines, KLM, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways, Singapore Airlines, Swiss, United Airlines and Virgin.
