Dhaka: BRAC Bank Limited signed a partnership with Bangladesh Economic Zones Authority (BEZA) for a tree plantation project at Mirsarai Economic Zone in Chattogram. The signing took place at a partnership ceremony held at BEZA Headquarters in Dhaka on June 10.
Chowdhury Akhtar Asif, Deputy Managing Director and CRO of BRAC Bank handed over saplings to Paban Chowdhury, Executive Chairman (Secretary) of BEZA, as a token of the partnership, at the event.

Our partnership with BEZA manifests our strong commitment to sustainability and care for the planet. We strive to contribute to reduce the carbon footprint of Bangladesh through our green financing and green initiatives,” said Asif.
The bank is to provide financial support for a massive forestation project in the premises of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Shilpanagar at Mirsarai. With the zone’s proximity to the Bay of Bengal, the forestation project, covering 500 acres of land, will help protect the coastal belt as well as add to its beautification.
With an area of 30,000 acres of land, Shilpanagar at Mirsarai is the most modern economic zone of Bangladesh with world-class business and industrial centers and facilities. The economic zone is projected to generate 1.5 million employment and USD15 billion export earnings within next 15 years.
