The Bangladesh Monitor celebrates 28th anniversary.

Dhaka : The Bangladesh Monitor, a premier English fortnightly of the country on travel trade celebrated its 28th anniversary on September 28 at its new corporate head office at Dhanmondi in the city.
Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor exchanged greetings with representatives from various travel trade organisations including airlines, hotels, resorts, tour operators, travel agencies, online travel agencies, national tourism authority, travel trade associations, media personalities as well as avid readers and many others, who attended the event. The ceremony included a cake cutting session to celebrate the milestone achievement.
"It is a great achievement and a matter of great pride for us. It is not easy to run a specialised fortnightly like Monitor for such a long period of time without any interruption. Behind this success lie the hard work and dedication of every employee of the organisation. I thank and congratulate them from my heart," said Kazi Wahidul Alam.
Expressing his thanks and gratitude to all patrons, well wishers and readers for their continued support, he said, "We hope to continue our efforts for the betterment of the travel industry with positive and constructive writings that we have been doing over last 28 years."
Bangladesh Monitor will bring out a special anniversary issue on October 1. The 44-page colourful issue will contain interviews of different key personnel of the industry, interesting articles and stories on aviation and tourism, among others.
Founded in 1991, The Bangladesh Monitor is now available both in digital on its online portal and online versions. On an average, the journal records a daily hit of approx 30,000. Its readership expands across many countries in all continents. The print version is regularly subscribed by several thousand readers. Besides it is available for sale in kiosks and bookstalls in Dhaka, Chattogram and Sylhet.
Since its inception, Bangladesh Monitor has regularly been taking various initiatives for the development of travel and tourism in Bangladesh. The initiatives include seminars and roundtables on contemporary subjects like 'Private Sector Airlines in Bangladesh', 'Halal Tourism', 'MICE Tourism', 'Riverine Tourism', 'Eco Tourism', 'Hospitality Industry', 'Role of Cooperation and Connectivity for the Benefit of Regional Tourism' and many others.
The fortnightly is the pioneer in introducing the popular international travel fairs - Dhaka Travel Mart in 2002 and Chittagong Travel Mart in 2009. Bangladesh Monitor for the first time organised culinary talent hunt competition - Shera Randhanshilpi in 2005. This popular annual programme for last five years is being organised as a TV reality show in ATN Bangla. To recognise the services of the airlines operating in Bangladesh, Bangladesh Monitor has been giving Airline of the Year awards since 2007 based on frequent flyers' opinion poll.
The specialised journal is in syndication partnership with The Hindustan Times of India and MenaFN of Middle East. For its quality and analytical news reporting, Bangladesh Monitor received the PATA Gold Award in 2006.
