Turkish Cargo unveils tailored solution for automotive industry
Dhaka: Turkish Cargo, the air cargo brand of Turkish Airlines, has introduced TK AUTO, a new logistics product built for the time-critical transportation needs of the automotive industry. The unveiling came through a launch event held during the Air Cargo China exhibition.
In an official statement, the airline said TK AUTO comes with two segments: AUTO PART and AUTO FINISHED, each designed to address different operational requirements within the sector.
TK AUTO PART is meant for the fast and flexible movement of critical automotive components used in manufacturing and aftermarket operations. Shipments under this segment receive priority loading over general cargo to help maintain uninterrupted production.
TK AUTO FINISHED, on the other hand, covers the transportation of motorized passenger cars, electric vehicles, prototype and test vehicles, and luxury automobiles, along with special vehicles such as motorcycles, ATVs, Sea-Doos, and Ski-Doos.
Turkish Cargo said the new tailored solution, TK AUTO, includes several added features beyond standard cargo handling. Loading scenarios are prepared in advance for each vehicle type, with certified Loadmaster teams overseeing loading, securing, and unloading on-site to ensure operational plans are properly executed.
High-value automobiles handled under the LUXE service are stored in specially secured areas at the SMARTIST facility, with key steps in the process documented through photographs. The service also benefits from priority loading within Turkish Cargo's speed-focused offerings.
Additionally, the booking process is handled through digitalized processes. Reservations for spare parts shipments can be made through the TK GO platform and other digital sales channels, while finished vehicle transportation benefits from accelerated pre-booking through customized volume calculations.
Turkish Airlines Chief Cargo Officer Ali Türk said need-specific solutions are as important as speed in automotive logistics. He added that the goal behind TK AUTO was to build an end-to-end structure capable of meeting the industry's varied operational requirements.
Türk added that Turkish Cargo will continue offering reliable solutions to its business partners through its flight network, infrastructure, and expertise in special cargo handling.
Turkish Cargo TK AUTO extends the airline's existing expertise in value-added air cargo transportation into the automotive sector. The product aims to support speed, reliability, and operational visibility across the supply chain, from production through final delivery, while reinforcing the company's broader capabilities in special cargo operations.
