Qatar Airways drops A380 from Sydney route, replaces with B777

Dhaka: Qatar Airways has
revised its fleet plans for Australia, confirming that its Airbus A380 aircraft
will no longer return to Sydney as previously scheduled. Instead, the airline
will operate the route with the Boeing 777-300ER, reducing both passenger
capacity and eliminating First Class service on flights between Doha and
Sydney.
The airline had initially
planned to resume A380 operations to Sydney in September after suspending the
aircraft during the regional security crisis earlier this year. However,
updated schedules now show the superjumbo has been removed from the route.
Qatar Airways operated daily A380 services to Sydney until March 22, before the
temporary suspension.
The move reflects the
carrier's ongoing adjustments as it rebuilds its international network. While
travel demand continues to recover, the airline appears to be adopting a more
cautious approach by deploying smaller aircraft on selected long-haul routes.
Sydney was one of three
Australian destinations previously served by Qatar Airways' A380 fleet,
alongside Melbourne and Perth. The airline has already replaced the superjumbo
with Airbus A350s and Boeing 777s on those routes.
